QUÉBEC NAMED BEST CRUISE DESTINATION IN CANADA/NEW ENGLAND FOR A SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

11/22/2024

Québec City, November 22, 2024— The Port of Québec and Destination Québec cité are proud to announce that, for the second year in a row, Québec City has been named Best Cruise Destination in Canada/New England for 2024 by Porthole Cruise and Travel magazine.
The Reader’s Choice Awards are based on the votes of thousands of the magazine’s readers, who evaluate the best destinations, cruise lines and facilities. Québec City remains the only Canadian destination to receive this honour, joining such iconic destinations as Amsterdam, Bora Bora, Istanbul and Singapore.

Quotes
“Winning this award for the second year in a row is a testament to the exceptional commitment of our teams and partners to delivering an unparalleled cruise experience. This distinction once again confirms the Port of Québec’s position as a leader in the international cruise industry”, declared Port of Québec CEO Mario Girard.
Receiving an award from the readers of a credible publication like Porthole Cruise and Travel magazine is a gratification, but it’s also a great vote of confidence for the entire destination. It means that the 2024 cruisers really appreciated Quebec City’s history, heritage, culture and gastronomy, among other things. It sends a very positive signal to all cruisers looking for their next trip that Quebec City is a destination to put at the top of their list. When you combine this with the constant efforts being made by the port and the tourism industry to make our collective actions more sustainable and responsible, we can only look forward to a bright future”, added Destination Québec cité General Manager, Robert Mercure.
“Quebec City is truly a gem among cruise destinations. From its rich history and stunning architecture to its vibrant culture and warm hospitality, it offers an unparalleled experience for travellers”, stated Bill Panoff, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the Porthole Cruise and Travel Magazine.

2024 International Cruise Season
It is important to note that the 2024 cruise season at the Port of Québec was marked by 112 calls, representing 42 different ships from 23 cruise lines, and the welcoming of nearly 155,000 cruise passengers. Among them, eight new ships visited Quebec City for the first time, and 28 embarkation and disembarkation operations were carried out.
As part of its sustainable approach, the Port is pursuing its green shift with concrete measures (limiting the number of cruise passengers per day, quayside electrification) to reduce the environmental impact of cruises, in support of its ambitious 2030 sustainable development objectives.
