First Nations

The Port of Québec’s involvement with First Nations

The Port of Québec recognizes the rights and welcomes the rich heritage of the First Nations. As such, it maintains close relationships with Indigenous communities based on respect, transparency, and mutual understanding.

For example, we consult Indigenous communities on our development and infrastructure projects. We take great care to honour the ancestral rights of First Nations, both in terms of fishing, hunting, and gathering activities and in the protection and promotion of cultural and archaeological resources.

We also work with Tourisme Wendake to share the history of the Wendat people with the thousands of visitors and cruise passengers we welcome every year. They were the first to navigate and trade on the waters of the Port of Québec.
