Anse au Foulon Sector
Located at the bottom of Cap Blanc, the Anse au Foulon Sector includes wharves 101 to 108 with a water depth varying between 10 and 12 metres. Its 23 hectares are operated by different terminal operators and some infrastructure was built in the 1930s.
Proximity to the Cap Blanc residences is a key issue to be respected and that is why three orientations guide the activities of this Sector: focus on natural bulk, encourage handling under cover and favour low-carbon intermodality.
In 2021, Sollio Agriculture inaugurated its new grain export terminal, the first to be built along the St. Lawrence River. The construction of this new maritime terminal represents a $110 million investment and is expected to generate economic benefits of nearly $18 million per year for the Greater Québec City area until 2037.

The nerve centre of the Port of Québec, the Beauport sector is a strategic hub for dry and liquid bulk in Canada. Thanks to its direct access to road and rail networks, it is well served in terms of intermodality. It is the last deep-water sector of the St. Lawrence before the Great Lakes, with a 15-metre depth at low tide. This is a considerable advantage for Beauport, which has a unique location that allows it to connect the industrial and agricultural core of North America with the world. Its 90 hectares of terminals and warehouses, and its wharves, which extend over 1.1 km, are all operating at full capacity.
In addition to its industrial site, the Beauport sector includes the Beauport Bay beach, a family recreational area and a favourite destination for windsurfers and birdwatchers. The development project also involves significant improvements to the beach and the implementation of a system to prevent beach erosion. This sustainable development initiative by the Port of Québec continues its tradition of forging strong links with the community.

Estuary Sector
The Estuary sector is situated in the cradle of the city and has a rich maritime history. A trading location before the colonization of New France, it was later transformed into one of the British Empire’s most important shipyards in the 18th century. Today, commercial and recreational activities share a home within this sector’s 75 acres. The sector includes the grain terminal operated by G3 of Canada, the Béton Provincial Terminal and the head office of the Ocean Group.
The Basin is a meeting point for the city and the water. With its beautiful surroundings and the Upper Town unfolding above it, the Port of Québec Marina highlights the role of this area as a recreation zone. The Louise Basin welcomes residents, boaters, tourists and athletes with its green spaces, its walking and cycling paths, and its event spaces. The QPA plans to increase the diversity of this sector over the coming years by helping to revitalize some sections of the Estuary, as part of a project aiming for harmonious integration with the urban environment.

North Shore Sector
The Port of Québec is Canada’s oldest port. Throughout its history, it has been an essential transfer point, contributing to the development of central Canada. The Port of Québec has been involved in the growth of Québec’s maritime and port activities, in particular in two projects located on the North Shore. In the 1980s, the Canadian Coast Guard set up its Laurentian base in Québec for the navigation of the St. Lawrence and the Arctic. The Société des traversiers du Québec is our neighbour on the wharves, and it offers the community a transportation alternative between the two shores.

A gateway to the old city for thousands of cruise ship passengers who come ashore there each year, Pointe-à-Carcy is a port and urban park that is unique in North America. The most impressive cruise ships, such as the Queen Mary 2, and other large naval ships dock in this sector. The quality of the facilities at Pointe-à-Carcy, and above all its proximity to the city’s major attractions, are what put Québec at the top of the list of most popular destinations for cruise ship passengers. A few steps from the wharves, Québec rolls out its red carpet and unveils its beautiful centuries-old streets and its many restaurants.
Pointe-à-Carcy is a gathering place in the heart of the city, offering a wide range of recreational activities in a natural setting with its promenade along the water, its cycling path and its restaurants. Its six hectares of land are also home to the Naval Museum of Québec, a residential area and Agora, an outdoor performance space that seats more than 4,000 people. It’s a perfect model of integration that reflects the Port of Québec’s vision of incorporating port activities in an urban environment.

South Shore Sector
The South Shore was a thriving sector in the 19th century, with its naval dockyards and places of business. Today, the South Shore is still very much alive, with its renowned port and maritime facilities. Still located there are the Jean Gaulin refinery in Lévis and the Davie shipyard, both of which help bolster the sector’s economic strength.
For more informationThe Seamen’s Club
The Seamen’s Club is located at the centre of the Port, at Dock 26.
The Seamen’s Club is a physical space that welcomes all mariners on layover at the Port of Québec. It’s a place to gather, have fun, and talk with other mariners or with loved ones using the free Wi-Fi. The Club is run by a team of volunteers who are there to listen and help with any requests.
The Seamen’s Club offers a Wi-Fi booth which is available 24/7.
You will find a small corner store for basic items and phone cards as well as a clothing counter for visiting mariners, who aren’t always equipped for Quebec’s harsh winters.
For information regarding opening hours and more, visit the Québec Seamen’s Club’s Facebook page.
