LAST WEEKEND AT VILLAGE NORDIK
03/07/2019
Québec City, Thursday, March 7, 2019 – The ice fishing season at Port of Québec’s Village Nordik is drawing to a close, with the last day scheduled for this Sunday. To celebrate another great season, the Port is inviting people in the greater Québec City area to come out on March 9 and 10 and try ice fishing at a special low price.
$10 per person for outdoor fishing
After a busy season, the Port of Québec’s Village Nordik heads into its eighth and final weekend of activity starting tomorrow. To try this winter pastime one last time, the Port of Québec invites you to come and try outdoor ice fishing at the special low price of $10 per person (for those seven years and older). Children under the age of seven get in free when accompanied by an adult. There will be free hot chocolate for all to keep everyone nice and toasty warm!
As a key stakeholder, the Port of Québec is proud to have played a significant role in this initiative for four years now. True to its vision of giving people access to the port, this fruitful partnership with Village Nordik has allowed the people of Québec City to go ice fishing in a wonderful urban setting for the past four winters. To date, the number of visitors is estimated at around 45,000 for the 2019 ice fishing season, which is comparable to last year but still very impressive given the challenging weather conditions this year.
A special weekend at the Port
The Port of Québec will be getting festive for the last weekend of March break. On Saturday, March 9, as ice fishers dangle their lines at Bassin Louise, the Pointe-à-Carcy docks will be loaded with spectators for the Grand Défi Chez Victor, the last ice canoe race in the Défi des glaces, which will determine the winning team for the 2019 season!
