THE PORT OF QUÉBEC REITERATES THE FACTS CONCERNING THE BEAUPORT 2020 PROJECT
09/10/2015
Québec, September 10, 2015 – The Québec Port Authority wishes to reiterate the facts concerning the port facility expansion project in Québec. This project was announced in detail on June 1st of this year.
The Québec Port Authority is proposing a strategic project to develop new port infrastructure in order to create new jobs, meet commercial challenges and upgrade port facilities.
This strategic project, called Beauport 2020, consists solely in extending the current wharf line by 610 metres, in creating new land and in rebuilding and redesigning the existing beach.
As for the fully covered infrastructure that may be developed on this new land if the project is authorized, a separate public participation process will take place for each of the facilities once they are known. Note that for simulation purposes, the Port created a video presentation of the project that includes hypothetical infrastructure.
The Québec Port Authority is subject to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act. Under the requirements of the Act, the Port participates in the environmental assessment process of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, which involves public participation.
