FROM OUR HIVES TO SCHOOL!

Thanks to our partnership with Alvéole, two grade 5 classes from Jeunes-du-Monde elementary school located in the Maizerets neighbourhood had the chance to participate in a beeswax candle-making workshop on November 21.

In the manner of the craftsman wax makers of the time, the students dipped wicks repeatedly in hot wax while learning about the history of this century-old skill. The curious youngsters also took the opportunity to ask our beekeeper questions about bees and their way of life.

Since 2020, the Port of Québec has had beehives on its site in Beauport Bay. In addition to promoting the biodiversity of the site, this area provides a safe habitat for these small pollinators.

Thank you to the Jeunes-du-Monde school who welcomed us with enthusiasm as well as to our beekeeper Mathilde for this beautiful activity which made many young people happy.
